1,500km of roads to be renovated within 06 months

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved to renovate optional roads, byways and rural roads of 100,000 kilometres within 06 months.

Plans are afoot to renovate 1,500 kilometres of roads, of which construction work had been inaugurated under the 100,000-kilometre roads programme and later suspended.

The total cost estimated for the renovation is at Rs. 20 billion.

It was proposed by the Minister of Transport and Highways to implement the programme for renovating the selected highways and byways so that they would be up for transportation within the first half of the year.
