AIBS celebrates 6th anniversary, becomes beacon of higher education
The Asian Institute of Business and Science (AIBS), founded in 2018, recently marked its sixth anniversary, celebrating its journey from modest beginnings to becoming a beacon of higher education excellence in Sri Lanka.
AIBS has solidified its reputation through its 2022 partnership with Edge Hill University, UK, ranked 35th in ‘The Guardian’ rankings and named Modern University of the Year. This collaboration highlights AIBS’s commitment to delivering world-class transnational education. Currently, the institute offers 21 diverse programmes in partnership with 14 awarding bodies and institutions, catering to over 600 students.
Initially established as a science-focused institution, AIBS launched its academic journey by offering Pearson BTEC Higher National Diplomas in Applied Sciences. Over time, its academic portfolio expanded to include Business, Computing and specialised undergraduate programmes in fields such as Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, Genetics and Software Engineering, many delivered in partnership with Edge Hill University. Founder and Managing Director Hiran de Silva emphasised the institute’s milestones, including its status as Sri Lanka’s leading producer of NCC Level three graduates, setting a benchmark for pre-university education.
The partnership with Rosedale Global International has further enhanced AIBS’s academic offerings by introducing the Ontario Secondary School Diploma, producing over 100 graduates annually.
Beyond academics, AIBS fosters practical learning through collaborations with prominent industry partners like Gene Labs Medical and Derana Medical Labs.
This integration bridges classroom theory and real-world application, equipping students for the demands of global industries.
With a strong focus on research in Life Sciences, Business and IT, AIBS contributes to academic innovation and societal progress. The institute’s vision remains steadfast: empowering students to become leaders and innovators in a dynamic global environment.
