Christina Perumal, a swimmer from Asian International School, received recognition from her training club, Killer Whale Aquatics, at its annual Golden Goggle Awards 2023. The event took place at the SLIDA Campus in Colombo 7 last Saturday.

Perumal, a 16-year-old breaststroke swimmer, achieved a notable feat by earning inclusion in the national swimming squad with 575 FINA points for the 100m Breaststroke. She stands as the second-best breaststroke swimmer in Sri Lanka, only behind Ramudi Samaraskoon, who trains in Budapest, Hungary.

Perumal’s exceptional performance throughout the year, particularly in both the National Long Course and Short Course Championships, brought glory to Sri Lankan swimming.

Participating in the Senior Nationals, Perumal secured victory in all three gold medal events: 50m Breaststroke, 100m Breaststroke, and 200m Breaststroke. Consequently, she clinched the Overall Second Runner-up position in the Short Course Nationals.
