Annual Hajj Agreement between Saudi and Lanka signed in Jeddah

Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka signed the annual Hajj Agreement in Jeddah on Saturday Jan. 11 at the Ministry of Hajj in Jeddah.

The accord was inked between the Vice Minister of Hajj Abdulfattah Bin Sulaiman Mashat and Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi in the presence of deputy Minister of National Integration Sheikh Muneer Mulaffer, Sri Lankan ambassador in Riyadh Ameer Ajwad, Director of Muslim Religious Affairs M.S.M Nawaz and Lankan Acting Consul General of Jeddah Mahfooza Lafir.

Speaking to Colombo Times from Jeddah Ambassador Jawad said: “3500 quotas will be allocated for Sri Lankan Hajj pilgrims under the new agreement during the forthcoming pilgrimage and the discussions were also held with regard to the necessary arrangements and services rendered by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to the Sri Lankan Hajj pilgrims.

Meanwhile, the visiting Sri Lankan officials also attended an exhibition on Hajj organised by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Umm Al-Qura University. Currently they are in the holy city of Madinah visiting the holy sites.
