Opener Avishka Fernando stroked a fine knock of unbeaten 125 in 138 balls with 15 fours and a six as SSC recorded 6 wickets win over Colts CC in their Major Clubs limited over cricket semi final played at NCC grounds yesterday.
SSC chasing a target of 237 runs reached required target with three overs to spare with six wickets in hand to enter the final and tomorrow they will meet Sebastianites in the final at SSC grounds.
Earlier Colts CC scored 236 for 8 wickets in 50 overs while Hashan Dumindu top scored with 63 in 96 balls with 3 fours and a six well supported by opener Ravindu Rasantha 40 in 49 balls with 7 fours and Muditha Lakshan hit 36 in 44 balls with 3 fours.
Prabath Jayasuriya the SSC experienced leggie with Nuwanidu Fernando and Chamindu Wickrmasinghe took two wickets each to restrict Colts to 236 for 8 wickets.
Avishka Fernando the SSC opener who failed during Zimbabwe three ODI series came back strongly at the semi final to complete superb knock of 125 while Krishan Sanjula hit 58 in 80 balls with 3 fours and a six. Young Ranuda Somaratne scored an unbeaten 32 in 42 balls 2 fours and a six. Colts CC used six bowlers including experienced Akila Dananjaya who took 1 for 55 in 10 overs while young Dunith Wellalage couldn’t impress in bowling giving away 42 runs going wicket less in his ten over spell and he was out for a duck earlier.
Meanwhile in the other semi final match on Saturday Sebastianites recorded an easy 10 wickets win over Baduraliya SC at NCC grounds. Baduraliya SC scored 108 all out in 42.2 overs while Sebastianites openers Thulina Dilshan and Navindu Vithanage scored an unbeaten 53 runs each reached their target in 22.3 overs to win the game for qualify for the final.
