The Mercantile Volleyball Association’s finals held at the National Youth Services Centre in Maharagama on October 29 saw Best Pacific Textiles Lanka (Pvt) Limited and MAS Casualline Mawathagama emerge champions in the men’s and women’s divisions, respectively, in the Super League segment of the Mercantile Volleyball Championship.
Best Pacific Textiles Lanka (Pvt) Ltd emerged as the Super League Champions by defeating the first runner-up, Maliban Group, with a 3-1 victory in the men’s category. MAS Casualline Mawathagama secured the Super League Women’s trophy by defeating Hirdaramani Group with a dominant 3-0 win in the finals.
In the Championship Men’s tournament, MAS Silmline Pananala claimed the championship title, with Commercial Credit and Finance PLC securing the first runners-up position. MAS Silmline Pannala also dominated the Championship Women’s tournament, securing a 3-0 victory, while Omegaline (Pvt) Ltd emerged as the first runners-up.
At the entry-level A Division tournaments, Aburnet Lanka and MAS Casualline Mawathagama emerged as winners in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively. In the same level, Lanka Walltiles and MAS Linea Clothing were recognized as the first runners-up teams.
The tournament showcased the dominance of the apparel sector, although several non-apparel sector organizations gave notable performances. MAS Holdings retained their position as platinum sponsors, with Maliban Group participating as gold sponsors. Other contributors included Ocean Lanka, Omega Line, and Lanka Tiles as silver sponsors, while Yarden International and Hirdaramani Group supported as bronze sponsors.
The preliminary round matches took place at the Davisamara Grounds in Seeduwa on September 16 and 17, setting the stage for this exhilarating tournament.
