SriLankan Airlines yesterday said that an investigation is currently underway in accordance with civil aviation regulations regarding an incident on flight UL607 from Sydney to Colombo on September 21, 2024, and the captain has been grounded pending the outcome of the investigation
“The airline is fully cooperating with the relevant authorities, and the captain has been grounded pending the outcome of the investigation. Safety and compliance with all regulatory requirements remain SriLankan Airlines’ top priorities,” a statement issued by the airline said.
Reliable sources said the co-pilot (first officer) was locked out of the cockpit by the captain during the flight.
It is said the first officer had gone out of the cockpit during a toilet break and the captain had locked the door and had not opened the door when the first officer returned and this had led to a heated argument.
