Central Bank – “No request has been made to the licensed banks to devalue the rupee”.

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka says in a statement that it has not requested the licensed banks to devalue the rupee.

The announcement further states that various messages are being exchanged stating that the licensed banks have been officially notified to devalue the rupee with immediate effect and that there is no basis for that.
