Channa Jayasumana – “The Delta variety should be expected to spread in the country in the future”.

Prof. Channa Jayasumana, Minister of State for Pharmaceuticals, Supplies, and Regulatory Affairs says that Sri Lanka alone cannot escape the Delta variety which is becoming the dominant variety in many countries of the world.

Accordingly, Minister of State Prof. Channa Jayasumana stated that the Delta variety should be expected to spread widely in the country in the future.

However, the Minister further stated that scientists have pointed out that all the vaccines currently used in Sri Lanka respond to that strain of the virus.
