China National People’s Congress Standing Committee Chairman Zhao Leji stated that China is committed to supporting Sri Lanka’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence.
This statement was made during a meeting between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Zhao Leji, which took place as part of President Dissanayake’s four-day official visit to China yesterday (16).
During the meeting, Chairman Zhao warmly welcomed President Dissanayake, further emphasising that working with Sri Lanka in a continuous and co-operative manner is a key expectation of the Chinese National People’s Congress.
Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath; Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation Minister Bimal Rathnayake; Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Qi Zhenhong and Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to China, Majintha Jayasinghe were also present at the event.
