The Health and Media Ministry led by Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa has commenced the New Year with a pledge aligned with the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ initiative. This year’s ceremony highlighted the ministry’s large-scale responsibility, as it oversees 41 institutions, including the soon-to-be-included Neville Fernando Hospital.

The Government, backed by significant public support, aims to uplift the country over the next five years with a production-centred economy, with the Health Ministry focusing on ensuring a healthy and prosperous life for the citizens.

Dr. Jayatissa emphasised the importance of dedication and unity among the 150,000 employees under the Health Ministry. He underlined that health services should be viewed as a public service rather than a profit-making venture. The Government intends to utilise the nation’s wealth produced by the people to serve the public effectively.

During the ceremony, the Minister stressed the responsibility of all officials and citizens to work together to meet the public’s expectations and uplift the nation. The ministry’s duty is to provide a healthy life for those contributing to the economy, aligning with the Government’s production-centred economic priorities.

Health and Media Ministry Secretary Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Health Services Director General Dr. Asela Gunawardena and other officials attended. Their collective efforts are aimed at driving forward the nation’s health and media services in the upcoming period.
