Eran quits as Moratuwa SJB organiser, to stay with party

Former Finance State Minister Eran Wickramaratne, who served as the chief organizer for the Moratuwa electorate of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), has reportedly stepped down from his position as the Moratuwa electorate organiser.

However, he further stressed that he will not leave the Samagi Jana Balawegaya and emphasised his efforts to move away from traditional politics by not holding onto positions indefinitely and providing opportunities for newcomers.

He officially informed his members about this resignation during a discussion with divisional organisers at the Moratuwa electorate main office.

According to internal sources, despite securing 38,837 preferential votes and achieving the fifth position in the Colombo District during the last parliamentary election, he did not obtain a parliamentary seat from the SJB . It was expected that Wickramaratne would enter Parliament through the National List. However, due to not receiving this opportunity and with the intention of giving a chance to a newcomer, he made this decision.
