The largest trade event after the COVID pandemic and economic crisis outside Colombo, The Gem Sri Lanka Trade Fair organized by the Chinafort Gem and Jewellery Traders Association (CGJTA), will begin today 9 30 a.m. onwards Cinnamon Bentota Beach and conclude on January 11.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe will be the Chief Guest. Gem Sri Lanka garnered global attention with the participation of buyers from the USA, Europe, and China. In addition the nearby hotels have received a tremendous boost by providing accommodation to these guests.
The Gem Sri Lanka Trade Fair, will serve as a unique platform for young talent in the gemstone industry to showcase their creations on the international stage. The event aligns with the government’s vision to achieve one billion dollars in revenue from the gem and jewelry industry, thereby uplifting the rural economy through a well-structured strategy. The economic impact of Gem Sri Lanka is anticipated to be substantial, contributing to the growth of Sri Lanka’s economy by tapping into lesser-exposed international markets and attracting increased foreign transactions for Sri Lankan gem purchases.
The event is endorsed by the National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA), the Export Development Board (EDB), and the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.
