Girl dies of food allergy at wedding

The Puttalam Police said that a young woman who was attending a wedding held at a festival hall in Puttalam fell ill suddenly and died after being admitted to the Puttalam Hospital.

The deceased is a 20-year-old woman named Ayodhya Deshani Wijewardena, a resident of Anamaduwa.

It is reported that the girl had joined the wedding party held at a festival hall near Puttalam town and after eating some kind of meat there, she developed some allergic symptoms.

A hospital official said that the young woman who developed the allergy was admitted to the Puttalam Base Hospital in a critical condition, but she was pronounced dead on arrival.

In the post-mortem examination, the assistant judicial medical officer of the Puttalam Base Hospital who gave an open verdict regarding the death, had also ordered to send the body parts to the Government Analyst for further examination.
