Emperor’s Wok, Hilton Colombo’s fine-dining destination renowned for its authentic Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine, ushered in the ‘Year of the Snake’ with a traditional Yee Sang tossing ceremony led by the Chinese Head Chef, Ming.

This symbolic ritual, deeply rooted in Chinese culture, represents growth, prosperity and abundance, with the act of tossing Yee Sang signifying the elevation of good fortune in the year ahead.

The Yee Sang ceremony features a vibrant array of ingredients, each carrying a special meaning for the New Year. Raw fish symbolises abundance and prosperity, while shredded vegetables represent vitality and growth.

Crushed peanuts signify wealth and treasure in every home and sesame seeds convey wishes of peace and safety within families. Crispy crackers (Pok Chui) embody a prosperous year filled with joy and laughter and sweet plum sauce represents the sweetness of life.

In celebration of the Lunar New Year, Emperor’s Wok presents an exclusive festive set menu for two, featuring a curated selection of Chinese delicacies.

Highlights include Steamed Pork and Prawns Siu Mai Dumplings, Szechuan Hot and Sour Soup with Crabmeat and Prawns, Cantonese Slow Braised Pork Belly ‘Dong Po Rou’, Fresh Lagoon Prawns with Savory Asian Yellow Curry and a delightful Almond Bean Curd with Lychee to conclude the meal on a sweet note.

This exclusive menu will be served daily for lunch from 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm and dinner from 7:00 pm to 10:30 pm at Emperor’s Wok and will be available until February 2.

Guests are invited to immerse themselves in the flavours of the season while celebrating new beginnings with family and friends.
