Minister of Agriculture – “Farmers should not sell paddy below the control price”

The Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage states that the relevant bill to increase the fine imposed on those who sell rice at higher prices will be presented to Parliament next week.

Meanwhile, the Minister stated that the government will purchase paddy in the coming Maha season.

The Minister further stated that farmers should not sell paddy below the controlled price and that the Paddy Marketing Board is ready to purchase paddy.
