Mother, daughter taking selfie killed

A mother and her daughter who tried to take a selfie photograph standing on the railway track near the Anuradhapura New Town railway station were killed after struck by a moving train yesterday.

The 37 year old mother had accompanied her 18 year old daughter to Anuradhapura who was taking part in a Taekwondo competition held at Anuradhapura Public Stadium.

The deceased are from Ratnapura area, the Police said.

The mother and her daughter were killed on the spot after struck by the express train running from Kankesanthurai to Colombo. The Police are investigating the incident.
