Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe : A long-term national policy framework should be introduced to politics

Leader of United National Party (UNP) MP Ranil Wickremesinghe said that, “Regardless of which party is in power, an unchangeable long term national policy framework should be formulated by law in order to build the country”, speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed UNP local government members at Sirikotha Party Headquarters today (28).

A country cannot be built in the backdrop that policies change when parties change, he added.

The UNP decided to remove 69 members of Municipal Councils, Urban Councils, and Pradeshiya Sabhas as they extended their support to Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB). Among the members were also three heads of local government bodies.

The people have come to a point where all politicians are being rejected, Wickremesinghe went on, adding that a change is needed in the entire political culture.
