Naveen Sooriyarachchi appointed Chairman of Gem and Jewellery Authority

A distinguished banker with a strong credit background, Naveen Sooriyarachchi has been appointed as Chairman of Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Authority by Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, Sunil Handunnetti.

An old boy of St. Joseph’s College Colombo he is also a graduate of the Colombo University (Business Administration) and a member of the Humphrey Fellowship in Investment Banking in USA in 1998. With over 40 years in the banking industry, he is currently a Director SDB Bank PLC.

“Together with the Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, Sunil Handunnetti and the Ministry we firstly hope to review the current unproductive tax structure and hope to increase the revenue from the industry by a sizable amount,” he said.
