Navy golfer Chalitha leads in Bangladesh Amateur Golf Trials

Sri Lanka Navy’s Chalitha Pushpika emerged as the leader, surpassing 10 top golfers in the Selection Trial for the Orion Group 37th Bangladesh Amateur Golf Championship. The championship is scheduled to take place from January 31 to February 3 at the Kurmitola Golf Club in Dhaka.

The two-day selection trial, organized by Sri Lanka Golf, held at the Royal Colombo Golf Club on January 9 and 10. Pushpika displayed a remarkable performance, securing a gross score of 73 on the first day and an even better score of 69 on the final day, maintaining his position at the top with a total of 142.

Uchitha Ranasingh, the son of golf legend Anura Ranasinghe, secured the second spot with a score of 144, comprising a first-day score of 74 and a second-day score of 70. Certis Lanka’s Chanaka Perera claimed the third position, recording 77 on the first day and an impressive 68 on the second day, totaling 146.

Junior golfers Kumar Danushan, Junior Open Champion Jevahn Sathasivam, and Yannik Kumara closely followed in the fourth, fifth, and sixth positions with total scores of 147.

Adithya Weerasinghe of Anuradhapura Golf Academy, Roshana Prasad, Kvahn Tejwani, and Janeesh Weerasinghe also participated in the trial, showcasing their golfing skills.

The selection process for the 37th edition of the four-day Bangladesh Amateur Golf Championship will involve choosing two golfers based on their performances in this trial, with consideration given to recent overseas tournaments, as announced by Sri Lanka Golf.
