Ports Minister – “It has not been confirmed yet that the toxic chemicals of the burning ship have entered the sea”.

The Minister of Ports and Shipping Rohitha Abeygunawardena states that no evidence has been received so far that the toxic chemicals in the Express Pearl have added to the ocean water due to the fire. After the shipwreck, the bodies of a number of dead sea creatures were dumped on the beach, but it has not yet been established that there is a link between the deaths and the accidents on the ship, the Minister said.
