Probe into Easter attacks progressing well – Catholic Bishops

0 20

The investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks appear to be progressing positively, and there is hope that they will be concluded swiftly, Father Jude Krishantha, the spokesperson for the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Sri Lanka stated. Speaking to Daily News yesterday (27), he expressed these expectations on behalf of the Conference. Father Jude Krishantha emphasized the importance of taking immediate steps to bring all those involved in the attacks to justice.

He further expressed the following views: “To be satisfied with the investigations into the Easter Sunday bombings, prompt action must be taken to punish everyone responsible for the attacks.

The government must handle everything transparently. Instead of conducting secret investigations and merely informing us, they should disclose the results to the public. The current administration is not expected to merely produce reports. Immediate and appropriate action must be taken against all individuals connected to the bombings.”

He also noted that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has now focused on certain aspects of the attacks that were overlooked during the previous administration. For example, individuals linked to Channel 4’s revelations on the bombings are currently being summoned and their statements recorded.

“This is what we hoped for,” he added. “We expect these efforts to move forward with consistent dedication.”
