Reshan Algama, a member of the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC), showcased his golf prowess, seizing the lead with an impressive score of 73 in the challenging Round 3 of the Sri Lanka Golf National Ranking Tournament at Victoria Golf Resort in Digana yesterday. Only the top three players managed to break 80 in this round.
The fifteen-year-old student from Colombo International School, Algama, stands out with an overall score of 221, positioning himself strongly as the tournament enters its final day today.
Professional golfer Priya Hemantha of Victoria Golf Resort secured the 2nd spot with a score of 74, accumulating a total of 224, just three shots behind Algama. Chalitha Pushpika claimed the 3rd position with a score of 76 and an overall total of 232.
Chanaka Perera from RCGC, who led after the first day, faced a setback with a score of 84, placing him one shot behind Pushpika with a total score of 233. Uchitha Ranasinghe, also from RCGC, improved by one shot, posting a score of 80 and a total of 234.
G Dhanaranjan holds the 6th position with a score of 84 and a total of 241. Adhithya follows in 7th place, shooting a score of 83, resulting in a total of 245. Jevahn Sathasivam rounds out the top 8 with a score of 80 and a total of 247.
As the tournament heads into its final day amid challenging playing conditions, the competition for the four slots in the upcoming international tournaments remains uncertain. The final round is expected to determine the players who will represent Sri Lanka on the international stage.
