In a display of aquatic dominance, Royal College emerged as the undisputed champions by clinching all three Age Group Championship titles, while Ladies’ College secured two Age Group Titles at the inaugural Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) Age Group Water Polo Championship. The championship, which featured categories for Under-11, Under-13, and Under-17 for the first time, concluded on Sunday at the Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming Pool.

In a gripping Under-17 final, Royal College, under the leadership of Anuga Handunpathirana, delivered a masterful performance, overpowering S Thomas’ College with a commanding scoreline of 14-0.

The Under-13 category witnessed Royal College, captained by Sulaiman Shihar, securing the championship title by triumphing over S Thomas’ College in a thrilling final showdown.

Royal College’s Under-11 squad showcased their talent by emerging victorious in a fiercely contested final against S Thomas’ College, adding another championship title to their remarkable haul.

This extraordinary success owes much to the dedication and expertise of Royal College’s new Water Polo coaching staff, with Head Coach Yasodha Wasalage at the helm, supported by Assistant Coaches Chandula Fernando, Omira Lokuge, and Akthar Jaffer. Kavindra Samaraweera, a member of the College’s Advisory Committee, played a pivotal role in this achievement.

Ladies’ College, Coached by Zafar Zainudeen, not only secured the Under-17 title but also emerged victorious in the Under-11 final, where they convincingly defeated Bishop’s College by a substantial margin in a thrilling final held at the Royal College Swimming Pool.

However, in the Under-13 final, Bishop’s College claimed victory by defeating Visakha Vidyalaya in a contest held at the Royal College Swimming Pool.
