Severe lightning warning

The Natural Hazards Early Warning Center has issued a warning for severe lightning that is valid until 11.30 p.m. today (Nov.1)

The Center warned that “Thundershowers accompanied by several lightning are likely to occur at several places in Western, North-western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara Districts. Heavy showers about 100 mm can be expected at some places.”

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
