Shashindra – Basil should be given a ministerial post with the power to intervene in all ministries

“Basil Rajapaksha should be given a ministerial post that has the power to intervene in all ministries and lead them” Minister of State Shashindra Rajapaksha.

Q. 113 MPs signed a letter to the President saying that Basil Rajapaksha should be brought to Parliament. Did you sign it too?

“No, I don’t need to sign it. Basil Rajapaksha is my uncle. I think he’s doing a great service behind the scenes. It’s easier do it in than out.”

Q. Will, it is easier if he gets a ministerial post then?

“I think it will inevitably happen. The ministerial post he will get should be a post that can intervene in all; it could be the Ministry of Agriculture, it could be the Ministry of Health or the Ministry of Highways. He should work together with these Ministries. Those ministers need leadership to come together and negotiate. There are places where it is difficult for the President to do everything. If there is a ministry that can intervene with some power in such places, I think he can do a great job. “
