Sri Pada pilgrim season begins on December 26

The Sri Pada pilgrim season (2023-2024) will begin on Unduvap Full Moon Poya Day on December 26, 2023 and end on the Vesak Full Moon day in May 2024, said Chief Incumbent of Sripadasthanaya, Pelmadulla  Rajamaha Viharaya and Sabaragamuwa University Chancellor Most Ven Bengamuwe Dhammadinna thera.

Speaking at a discussion on the commencement of Sripada Pilgrim season at the Ratnapura District Secretary’s office, the Thera stated the sacred relics and the statue of God Saman will be brought from Pelmadulla Galpoththawela Sri Pada Raja Maha Wiharaya to be placed at the Siripamaluwa on December 26.
