Two of Keheliya’s bank accounts amounting to Rs. 20 Mn frozen

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) yesterday ordered the freezing of a current and a fixed deposit account of former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella for a period of one week.

The total balances in the two accounts in question are approximately Rs. 20 million.

The freezing has been ordered in accordance with Section 53(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, No. 9 of 2023.

The CIABOC also expects to further extend this order after it is presented to the court. The CIABOC has taken steps to freeze a number of assets of the former Health Minister and several of his relatives, including his wife, on several previous occasions in connection with these investigations.
