Vehicle Park drivers complain of extortion racket

Vehicle Park drivers complained to the Kandy Municipal Commissioner yesterday (12) regarding an incident where a mob entered the vehicle park of the Central Market belonging to the Council and extorted money from the drivers.

Despite the fact that no money is collected from vehicles parked in Kandy city every year on Dawal Perahara day, this group of collected money from vehicles throughout the day yesterday (12).

The Offices of the Kandy Municipal Council are also located in the Central Market area and people who came to these offices have also complained about this to the council.
