I will be happy if Sri Lanka players are ready to play for Maharashtra State team in any category even under 15,19,23 or seniors and women’s said it’s Secretary Shubhendra Bhandarkar
We have lot of Acadamy over here in Maharashtra Cricket Association whenever we play Maharashtra domestic season 48 teams have get a chance to take part and we have good domestic structure here in Maharashtra state .Rohit Pawar our President and his team always work hard to do everything. Our President has good vision and as a Secretary I have more than 15 years experience with MCA .I have played different categories in Maharashtra cricket those days and as a ex cricketer I am very keen to give my support to promote cricket said Secretary of MCA Shubhendra Bhandarkar.
We are happy to conduct five matches at Maharashtra Cricket Association ( MCA) Stadium in Pune and we are thankful to ICC and BCCI for giving this great opportunity said MCA Secretary in an exclusive interview to Daily News .
We are very much exciting hosting this particular world cup matches India / Bangladesh,Sri Lanka/ Afghanistan,South Africa/ New Zealand, England/ Netherlands,and Australia/ Bangladesh matches. first match between India and Bangladesh more interesting and it was houseful (36,000) on this stadium and very good response from Pune spectators. They have chance to watch big level cricket and also nine world cup teams out of ten are in action and very rare oppertunity for a venue added Secretary of MCA.
Two months before this world cup ICC and BCCI instructed to prepare and our staff did tremendous duty to get very high standard.In fact any time this ground is ready to conduct top class tournament and it’s a good team work of all. That’s why if anyone tell five days before this tournament we are ready to give this venue add MCA Secretary.
This ground was not situated here before and it was under the Pune Municipal corporation and it was with less capacity. Then we decided to select this land having very picturesque location urrounded by Hills and any sunny day there is a breeze always their and it’s not much hot and players always love to play this venue.
We have 13 wickets at middle. First we started with our own curator Pandurang Salgaoncar who was a former Maharashtra player who did this job and now Prakash Adva from BCCI looking after as curator.We have hired Adava to look after this wickets and it is more successful and thanks to BCCI for providing this type energetic man. BCCI looking after all State Association and same as Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA). We are getting funds from our Infarstructure to do everything added MCA President.
We already produced so many National players from MCA Chandu Borde who was former India Skipper now 89 years who played 55 test matches having 5 test hundreds and Deepathi Udayawa and then we produced Kedar Yadav ,talented oprner Ruturaj Gaikwad and Smriti Mandhana the women’s team talented opener and Devika Waidya all from Maharashtra Cricket Association.
