The construction of the “Drive Through” Out-Patient Department (OPD) which started as an idea of the Chairman of the Sri Jayawardhanepura Hospital (SJGH) Dr. Nihal Jayathilake with the coordination of Director Dr. Ratnasiri A. Hewage, is scheduled to start in January 2024.
The estimated cost of this project is Rs.10 million and all the construction work will be carried out by the Navy as per the instructions of the Navy Commander Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera.
This will be the Sri Lanka’s first “Drive Through” OPD. Arrangements have already been made to provide all outpatient services in one place. In future a home visiting services for medical treatments also has been planned, the hospital’s management said.
